Life 1942 - 45

LF7-C-WT-CR-SGBlkL, cotton embroidery, war coarse right twill cloth, gold knot inside of heart, 2 red strips in shield, X's are indistinct, gauze reinforced starched back with black lock stitch. These badges were made using a light weight cloth with a unique weave. This cloth was used by one of the two suppliers of badges during WWII. Many collectors describe the weave as having a basket weave look. The weave pattern is the welf thread passes over two warp threads then under two warp threads.
